x5 4.6 si-limited edition???jgolaw 02-03-2003, 01:06 PM i recently purchaesed an x5 4.6 and was told by the bmw salesperson only 400 units are made available in the us per year. because of its limited productin--i was also told that they sell above msrp. i was told they sell for 10K to 20K above msrp. is that true? i bought my 4.6 at msrp (66k) and so i he told me i was getting a great deal. he also said that my 4.6 has m5 technology and for all practical pursposes it is an m5. i have not been able to confirm any of this anywhere. are they limited production. do they sell for above msrp? is my 4.6 an m5 for all practical purposes (under the hood). please advise. by the way my 4.6 is significantly improved from my 4.4. very subtle but huge difference in five categories-- if that makes any sense (power, handling, comfort, luxury, appearance) Menu dei Motori 03-19-2003, 12:51 AM well the 4.6 iS engine is from Alpina and has NOTHING to to with the M5 engine. Here in germany we have alimited edition for X5 4.4 i haven´t heard that there is a LE for 4.6iS.... maybe it´s sth special for american market. well your imrpovements you feel: power, handling, comfort, luxury, appearance Power: yea sure Handling: yes a bit Comfort: everything should be a bit harder... and depens on your former seats in your x5 4.4 luxury... there is no difference if you have a fully loaded 4.4 or 4.6iS appeareance. of course the painted front and back end look nice the exhaust system also.but the 20´´ wheels are not the best from looking. i prefer the 19´´ from the sportspackage... all in all good choice with your x5 4.6iS enjoy it! nomerce... 03-26-2003, 11:48 PM In Holland isn't a LE version of the 4.6is and I can't imagine that people pay more than the price in the pricelist. Maybe BMW fans in the states have to line up to sign the contract for a new 4.6is. I find it hard to believe. So you've been had.....to end positive, a X5 4.6is is 112.500,- euro's in the Netherlands  as a result of rediculous high taxes on new cars....I hope this will soften the bad news.....:licker: http://www.bmw.nl/bis/page-1-2-6-17-1-4.html to prove it... :) Menu dei Motori 03-27-2003, 03:23 AM wtf that´s really omg so much... in germany if we would order a fully loaded x5 4.6 iS we would not even pay 105000€ oh my god i´m sorry for you.. so much taxes   :( :( zyajzarc 10-27-2003, 12:11 AM Originally posted by jgolaw i recently purchaesed an x5 4.6 and was told by the bmw salesperson only 400 units are made available in the us per year. because of its limited productin--i was also told that they sell above msrp. i was told they sell for 10K to 20K above msrp. is that true? i bought my 4.6 at msrp (66k) and so i he told me i was getting a great deal. he also said that my 4.6 has m5 technology and for all practical pursposes it is an m5. i have not been able to confirm any of this anywhere. are they limited production. do they sell for above msrp? is my 4.6 an m5 for all practical purposes (under the hood). Yes and no. Yes. The 4.6is is under a "limited production" title. MOST dealerships get around 3 per year, larger ones may get up to 10. Due to their rarity many dealers will sell them above MSRP (usually around 10k more, 20k is pretty rare). If you are willing to scour the nation you can find some for MSRP and others for about 2k under MSRP. No. The 4.6is is NOTHING like the M5. The M5 has a 5.0L naturally aspirated engine pushing 394 hp. The 4.6is is a 4.6L naturally aspirated engine pushing 340hp. The M5 has a 6spd manual transmission. The 4.6is has a Tiptronic 5spd automatic. Thus, under the hood, the M5 and 4.6is are COMPLETELY different. In the United States they're are no "special edition" versions of the X5 (not to my knowledge). Menu dei Motori 11-30-2003, 03:14 PM the x5 4.6iS was never under limited production in germany. and soon there will be the x5 4.8iS :) BMW_4.4i 02-12-2004, 05:27 PM Oh yeah!!! The 4.8 will be AWESOME! :) zyajzarc 03-01-2004, 02:25 AM Originally posted by Menu dei Motori the x5 4.6iS was never under limited production in germany. When I said "limited production" I didn't really mean that the 4.6is was a special vehicle with the words "limited edition" or such in its name. I said that because not too many dealers were able to obtain more than 3 per year, and thus the car was in limited numbers. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
