My radio says SAFE. I disconnected the battery and then reconnected and then hit MODE and SCAN. Instead of coming up with numbers SAFE just starts flashing. I know that my wife tried to guess the code a few times and so I had to disconnect and reconnect again. Any advise?

Thanks,

Bryan

In the manual find the code that was issused to your car. If you bought from a dealer, phone em' up and ask them if they changed the code. If you bought privately, track down the last owner and ask them if they changed the code. I had this problem and I just had to keep asking dealers until they gave in to help. :)

I have the code and have used it before, but this time I cannot get it to let me enter the code it just flashes instead of coming up with zeros.

What car do you have?

mk4: try leaving your radio on when you shut your car off, it will shut off after about an hour.
mk3: Leave your car with the ignition key in, so that everything have power, leave it there for about an hour. (do this in a safe place). The radio will reset itself and you will be able to re-enter the passcode.

Many Thanks! I have a Mexican Jetta. Many problems as it was shipped disassembled and reassembled in Mexico. They did that in 1994 and 1995 for some reason. It runs well now <knock on wood>

The hour reset worked and I have music again.
