To anyone:

I'm looking for a good runing diesel engine that will fit an '82 rabbit. If anybody has one or knows a junk yard please let me know.

Either reply or email me at thecleaneerr@hotmail.com

Thanks

TDs are a LOT harder to find, plus they are more expensive

there is a guy out here that wants to get rid of an 81 deisel rabbit that a bunch of neighborhood kids beat up with bats and beebee guns. engine is fine but car is trash. free to tow away.

when i got there to see it, i thought the guy was exagerating. no it was a huge mess. didn't even want to look at it. nothing was salvageable at all..

throw a TDI in it... those aren't hard to find and they bolt right in. well you have to change little that is... there is a guy on VDUBVORTEX that has a complete step by step of how he did it...

1982 Rabbit Deisel Pickup currently not running. Compression check came out 90 p.s.i. on #1 and 270 on the others was hoping it is just a blown head gasket.
While removing headbolts noticed the bolts closest to the camshaft gear were much looser than the others. Once I got the head off I noticed cracks between the valves on all 4 cylinders, is this normal or do now have the impending thrill of buying a reconditioned head?

cracks on a head or block are never 'NORMAL"::: of corse less you have an old engine, then yea it meens new time... sorry. how bad are the cracks?

I posted a pic on here, not sure how to link directly to it but if you click "gallery" on one of my messages it should display.
Any idea how much a reconditioned head costs and is there a place to find one in the Atlanta area?
