Helpbumpintahoe 01-24-2003, 03:08 PM I have a '94 Honda Passport. The problem is that when I start it up something squeals heinously loud until I rev the engine really hard. I find that if I pump the brake and gas before I start it, it doesn't do it for as long. It also seems to get worse in colder weather. I thought it might have been just a belt, but I took it to Goodyear and they said all the belts looked fine and they even tightened 'em a little more, but the squealing persisted. I don't know what the problem is. I got a remanufactured starter put in awhile ago and the squealing started not long after that was put in, so I don't know if that had any affect. And just to throw things out there, I have a sound system in my car with a 1200W amp that puts a mean draw on my electrical system I think, but I don't know if that has any affect either. Any ideas on what could be the problem would be appreciated. Thanks! kris 01-24-2003, 03:20 PM Try spraying belt dressing on the belts. It sounds like belts to me. Even if there is good tension on a belt, it can still squeal.
