HI,

Just bought a new Z71 Tahoe and wanted to know if anyone has had expereince (real life) with performance increase with a two in and two out pipe cat-back system. i'm also contemplating a programable performance chip.

Of course youre going to experience gains, thats one of the reasons of doing exhaust. Just doing exhaust isnt going to turn your Tahoe into a race car, but you will experience a little more power (probably high RPM top end) whether its noticable or not.

In response to the question about Exhaust or possible a chip, you may have already gotten them both or even decided to get a different car, but here is my 2 cents: putting exhaust (as I did) on the tahoe is more than anything for enjoying the sound. You do get performance gains, but not huge. A chip I don't have experience with, but I would get a programmer (as I did on my old truck) before installing a chip so as to preserve the warranty.

By the way, I just found a new forum for Z71 Tahoe's (new and old bodystyle) at www.Z71tahoe.com and I have already spent quite some time there. I would recommend it to any Z71 Tahoe owner for sure.

I have a Borla exhaust system on my 2003 Tahoe LT and I love it. I'm sure there are performance gains, but the sound is unlike any other. I've had numerous people stop me (or my wife) while we are driving and tell us how good it sounds.

Do you have any sound or video files showing off your Borla exhaust on your Tahoe?

I also live in Texas and went to a muffler shop today to look at some Magnaflows, but the guy was really talking up the Borlas. In fact, he no longer carries the Magnaflows.

I want the Tahoe to sound a little beefier on startup and acceleration, but I don't want a steady drone while driving down the highway.

No video or sounds as of yet, but I will be working on that in the next week or so. The borla is a great sounding exhaust. It has a nice low rumble at idle, and when you step on it the exhaust screams, but at highway speeds it is barely noticeable. Where are you located at in Texas? I'm in the D/FW area, I work in Las Colinas. Here are some pics of the Borla on my Tahoe.

Nice lookin' Tahoe zac1333! I especially like the wheels. The rear exit exhaust ain't too shabby either...

I'm up in McKinney -- the muffler shop I stopped at was in Plano. Where did you get yours done? Would you recommend them? Did they put in true duals or is it similar to stock? The Plano shop said they would go with duals due to the dual cats available. That setup would be just shy of $500 NOT inlcuding tips (ouch!)

My only previous performance exhaust was a Corsa cat-back system on a LS-1 engine. I loved that sound, but I'm not sure how it would be on a Tahoe (a little exotic and burbly at idle like a boat). I do notice that Corsa has a specific part number just for the 2002+ Z71 Tahoe cat-back system. I haven't seen anyone else break out the Z71 from the other models. I'm a litlle curious as to what the difference would be.

I'm really concerned with resonance in the Tahoe, so it's good to hear that you (and your wife) are happy with the Borla sound. I always liked the Borla "snarl" sound on the LS-1.

Did you notice any performance/mileage changes after the exhaust? I've heard some say that they lost a little low end with Borla.

I know I've got lots of questions, but I'm a detail guy and I only want to change this once. I appreciate any input on the subject.

Actually, the Tahoe came with the wheels, exhaust, and satellite radio when we bought it, so I can't really do any before/after comparisons. I did drive my sister's 2001 Tahoe last night, and compared to the Borla, the stock exhaust sounds weak and anemic. The low end as well as the top end on my Tahoe are great, no complaints there. I will try to get a video together this weekend for you guys to see.

Yup, I just shot it last night. I'll finish editing it tonight and hopefully have something by Wednesday. I'll post a link once I'm done.

Hey zac1333 thanks for the sounds of your Borla. I have been contemplating changing my current exhaust (Corsa w/dual 4" side tips) to something else. I'm not to sure I like the sound of mine. So, I'm going to try to sell it and go with Borla. Ramtip is right at idle the Corsa does sound a little burbly and like a boat which is why I don't like it. At wide open throttle though it sounds great, but around town it is a little too burbly for me. You helped me make my decision. Thanks.

Here's another video of a Borla exhaust on an Avalanche. This, as well as your's are really making me lean towards the Borla. Decisions, decisions...

Did you actually change from Corsa to Borla?
I am buying a new 2004 Tahoe Z71 and I was planning to use Corsa Sport sound exhaust. They also offer a Cruise sound for the same Tahoe.
My dad always used Borla.
It would be great to know from somebody's experience which one is nicer and why? It is not about HP, it is about sound. I know that.
Corsa sounds pretty good in their web page.
Please help me on this if possible.

Can somebody day something about Borla Split Rear Cat Back on a 2004 Tahoe 2WD.
Borla has not tested it and they can not garantee it will fit.
Does anybody has used this sytem on a 2004 Tahoe?
