Hi

I plan to purchase a new car and I'm considering the 330i, A4 and 9-3. What I am reconsidering is the price of the 330i as I really don't need all the power. Your opinions are appreciated and thanks.

Look at the G35 and 325 I. The Saab is not up to the same standards as BMW or Audi, and Saab is not inexpensive.

Driven one yourself?
Personally I can't say that Audis are better (an yes I have driven one), have never driven a BMW so I can't really tell but personally I have never really liked them. The best car is the one that can easily fulfill you own expectations, nothing more nothing less

The new 9-3 has a new engine, which sadly isn't as good as the old ones but they are lighter and consumes less fuel. The engine is a modified Lotus/Opel engine. All engines are turbocharged and equipped with Saabs own Trionic 8, maybe the worlds most advanced oem system. Since it's a turboengine these engines genally can be chip tuned for more hp, but since it's a new version of the Trionic system it may take some time until the chiptuning companies "get it right".

The cars have got really good results in crash tests, better than BMW, Audi and Volvo. The car is also hard to steal for a thief, I know that Audi (VAG) are among the thives favorite cars.

The suspension is hard and quite "sporty", (like a Hond Civic with harder springs) but I think it might need a wing to get a little better traction on the rear during sporty driving. I have newer driven one, I just ride in one as a passenger but most people that have tested one have had opinions like this.

www.saab.com then choose country. I'm sure you find tests on the car somewhere, meybe even a comparing test but the result vary depending on who did the test.

saab 9-3 says 175 hp, but it feels like way more cuz of the turbo, my saab 9-5 feels like it's more powerful than my jaguar s-type 3.0, which is only 235 hp, big diff between em, and saab is faster

It has preserved sculpturesque presence of Saab but there is no sight
of that expressive essence of body object of timeless plane that 9-3 hatch had in abundance.

It really looks like more refined shape of 9-5 much like A4 reshaped proportions of larger A6.

I like drive of new sport sedan no hyper lag in third gear and you have no fear to release clutch anywhere before 1500-3000 sphere.
Premium 70 audio system is a real shock when I remember old standard 9-3 system. Premium 300 is a real choice if you want to have a real world system saving any extra for outboard install.

There are some iffy design solutions in interior but it is generally fine.
I do miss that sexy display of protection belt and more avio driver cockpit dash.

Ecology economy is also fine. To employ CNG or Lpg gas in Saab is
must and a real treat because with sequent fly Saab will have no
change in performance (Almost the same with Audi Turbo)

Bmw has a bad karma (serious), engines are completely build
and calculated for US and that means ( who cares for Oil economy),
not very economic or ecological for Europe. True, neither Audi or Saab have manual shift like Bmw or corners like the same, still, in my plane of thoughts Saab offers more profound value and relaxed sense of driving a beautiful car in a world that is not.

Ah yes, word of reviews...non-biased by carmaker for Saab and others.

US has great and objective : http://www.edmunds.com/

Europe has (well for sake of language) :

Thanks for the replies. After driving the 9-3 Vector automatic, I'm convinced it is the car I will get. It handles great, looks great, and I enjoyed the paddle shifting. Not the braking power of the 330 but it will stop you when very necessary. Black or graphite green in color I haven't decided upon but I will have it by Fall.
