How to install an alpine cd head unit and keep the keyless entry?96civicex 12-27-2002, 04:32 PM Hello Everybody, I am going to install an Alpine CDA-7892 CD head unit in my 96 civic EX w/ keyless entry. I was curious if anyone knew a site that has detailed instructions on how to install a deck while keeping the keyless entry feature available? I know that I have to keep the factory CD player tucked in the back, but I was hoping to find a detailed description. Thanks, Gabe emerge 12-28-2002, 03:01 PM i remember when i got my cd player installed, they were worried about that. i got best buy to install mine since it was free. they managed to keep my keyless entry working but i have no clue how they did it. sorry ;/ hondacivic4drlx 12-28-2002, 10:07 PM who gave you the bogas idea that your factory keyless entry had ANYTHING to do with the radio, beacuase they dont know what there taking bout. gunnmen01 12-29-2002, 03:40 AM UUMMMM ok lets see...2 things... #1...the 96 to 00 civics the keyless DID run thru the radio...so an After market radio would kill the keyless entry...its a fact..... #2 this may take a bit...leave your factory deck plugged in, splices wires into the harness and connect the after market adaptor to those wires...tuck your stock deck back inside the dash somewhere and slip the new radio in...ive seen a few done like that at my dealership...if you do it right the keyless should still work... hope this helps..if not hit me up on yahoo im on under gunnmen01... gunnmen01 txcivicxt 12-31-2002, 09:51 AM I just installed a new deck in my 98 (w/keyless) and had no problems with it. I didn't even know it would cause a problem until I read this thread. BluStori 12-31-2002, 08:52 PM installing the head unit for a civic should be no problem at all... for my car i had to get an adapter kit etc :/ being a first timer, it should take u a long time make sure u dont mess up any wires and disconnect ur negative side of ur battery :D vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
