ls/vtec?redmanjd 12-27-2002, 01:58 PM should i ?? if i do what is the best if i go with a b16 head? What type of pistons? do i need a knock sensor? do i need rods and new rodbolts?? talondvr 12-28-2002, 01:07 AM the b16 head should bolt right on.you dont really need to change anything. im in the process of doing this with my 92 ls. you could raise the compression with new pistons because the head is built for it. SAgeP 01-03-2003, 07:10 AM Umm there are a few things you need to do to bolt it right on. First you have to use the b18a or b head gasket. You also need the b16a head bolts. You have to plug the oil "in" hole in the bottom of the head and run an external oil line from the oil sender in the block. Then you have to bore out or drill the dowel pin holes so they match up with the block. You then really should use a vtec distrib per gen of your car. You have to have the b16a intake manifold. It is a really good idea to use the b16a pistons or other high comp pistons. You use the b18a/b rods and crank. You can have the b16a pistons pressed on to the ls rods. You can use the ls distrib but you have to cut a leg off. My lsvtec is 90 b18a bottom end....98 ls rods, sir1 b16a pistons, sir1 head and intake manifold. Both TB's should be the same. Hastings piston rings and acl race bearings. It is a very good idea to upgrade the rod studs to ARP rod bolts for higher revving. I only take mine to 8100. Here is a good link for your build. I really hope hte above poster did not think it was a direct bolt on. http://www.angelfire.com/dc/lsvtec/2019.html vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
