She's got a laundry list of parts that need refurbished or replaced. Not the least of which is welding in floorpan patchs. Don't worry, you'll become familiar with the taillights of an MGB GT soon enough. DemonZX 01-02-2003, 09:11 AM Hey Guerilla_Farmer make the trip to Jacksonville we can chill! flylwsi 01-04-2003, 02:49 AM taillights of an mg? when i pull up behind it broken down on the freeway with the hood up and 4ways on? yeah... the only way i'll see the back is if i let you drive in front of me at nelson's ledges... Layla's Keeper 01-04-2003, 05:11 AM So you have seen me cruising? J/K :D :D Even still, the poor girl is hurt. Now that I finally got her to a lift, I found out the biggest problem of them all. The front subframe is rotting! As it stands, I'm going to try shipping her down to my cousin in Elyria, who'll then send her to his restorers for a full body off rebuild. My baby's all a shambles and I don't have the garage space to fix her.:( :( :( flylwsi 01-04-2003, 12:46 PM how much is that going to run to get that thing in one piece again? sounds almost not worth it. kinda sucks that you didn't buy those other two when you had the chance, eh? coulda used all three to make one complete badass car... that's still gonna be behind me when i get on the gas... :licker: GreatOne01 01-04-2003, 01:34 PM Vancouver, BC, Canada. ;) Layla's Keeper 01-04-2003, 02:52 PM Couldn't have used those other two, for starters. The MG Midget uses an 1100cc four and different transmission than the MGB, which has a 1800cc four. The Triumph Spitfire is a completely different car, too. Independent suspension at all corners and a Massey-Ferguson developed 1100cc four are its primary bits. Plus, the Spit and the Midget are a full size class beneath the MGB. They're even smaller! As for being worth the money, here's the current price scenario to get it to what I want: Initial cost- $450 Engine rebuild- $1100 New steel in chassis- $700 Suspension bits- $500 Body panels, repaint and new Sebring style airdam- $2500 Interior pieces (new door panels, carpeting, Sparco rally buckets, Sabelt five-point harnesses, and four-point rollbar)- $1750 Wheels (knock-off Minilites or Campagnalo 5-spokes)- $1500 used Grand total- $10,500 But here's the kicker! Current market value for race-ready MGB GT's with the high-compression 1.8L is... $14,000-$22,000 depending on year, other options, and quality of build. So, yeah, she's worth it. I just don't have the income to do everything as it stands. Cu Cbass 01-04-2003, 04:38 PM Vancouver eh? Do you have MSN, Oh GreatOne01? Hmm, the server ate my post, and windows ate my copy I saved of it  Octagon, a body restoration can wait, but you should sort out the chassis problems as soon as possible. My recommendation is to learn to do your own prep work, because no one would be willing to put as much care into your car as you will ;) flylwsi 01-04-2003, 05:06 PM what about corbeau forza seats? that's what i'm getting, and you can get 2 with brackets for about 500 bucks. far cry from some overpriced sparcos... and i've got corbeau seats in my truck, hella nice... TrvlynAlec 01-04-2003, 05:25 PM Crown Point, IN Layla's Keeper 01-04-2003, 09:27 PM Yeah, but are these corbeau's mostly bare fiberglass with only the barest of padding, and can hold in place so well that you can barely breathe? I'm looking for racing seats (just like in the WRC). Comfort? I got the comfort option. It's called a roof. I've been looking at the Forza, they're a good deal, and they're very light... Just as long as you don't feel like reclining, they're a fixed seat. Of course, that's perfect for a 2 seater ;) Cyprus106 01-05-2003, 11:00 PM First off, Missouri. Dead center. Second... For those who have forgotten, I live on the west coast of Canada, and will be opening the shop doors once more soon... hey, CBass... what kind of shop are you opening?? I may ask some pointers. I'm just weeks away. and I am SO gonna look up those coordinates someday kris. flylwsi 01-06-2003, 12:09 AM i'm planning on the forzas actually... i've got the GTS II in my truck, and love em. the corbeau's aren't all glass shelled pieces, i'm not sure which ones you're thinking of. and what do you think wrc cars have? same thing but carbon fiber shells. take a look... you're thinking of some of their other seats.. www.corbeau.com Cyprus106 01-06-2003, 01:05 AM I know which ones he's thinkin of... the ACTUAL drag seats. the real flimsy looking cardboardish ones, I know they're not really flimsy. I've seen them on professional drag cars before. Cbass 01-06-2003, 02:18 AM Originally posted by Cyprus106 hey, CBass... what kind of shop are you opening?? I may ask some pointers. I'm just weeks away. Generic speed shop... you name it, I can make it faster... I can't afford heavy machinery right now, so I have to send things off to a machine shop for milling. Porting, fabricating intake manifolds, custom exhaust... I don't want to be in direct competition with the other speed shop in town, cause Bill will come over and kick my ass ;) DemonZX 01-06-2003, 08:18 AM Well damn brody maybe I will take a trip up there so you can hook me up! They way my car is running right now it's about a month and a half on foot! Cyprus106 01-06-2003, 12:37 PM pushign the car up there it'll take a little longer. nice, CBass... so you don't sell parts. Just make stuff faster? Cbass 01-06-2003, 02:58 PM Well, I'm thinking I might cater to the import crowd once I can get a good line on parts. I don't think there is really enough business in my area to support a modifications only shop, so I will have to eventually sell parts. Right now, it's just going to be the basics, because that's mostly what people want around here, just CAIs, custom exhaust systems, and actually performance work. From what I hear, I'll be the only shop on the island that can mandrel bend exhaust. Of course, that'll be when I spend the $3000 on a mandrel ;) I'm thinking I'll do a lot of sales over Ebay, considering what it costs me to make intake manifolds, CAIs and exhaust kits, I can go a lot cheaper than a lot of people on Ebay. X3r0 11-08-2003, 10:33 PM Tock.... w0w fun timez in the FoRuM .... im in Lexington, Kentucky and i dunno of any place that people meet up and race....but i get a race every onece ina while at a light......but there is a drag strip not to far from where i live....buit ints more fun wen u race illigally...i think thats how u spell it.......click! 2002bluewrx 11-08-2003, 11:22 PM Tick....
