German presision vs american muscle *and lard*TerminalVelocity 12-16-2002, 05:40 AM the heavy bird strikes again. I'm on the freeway, crusin along at 80 when I get buzzed by an M3 Z3, well I HAVE to get a better look ;) So I follow him for 10 miles or so untill were both in a long straitaway with no cars for at least a mile *seemingly...* So I gun it and let off, he pulls alongside, downshifts *car jerks and you can hear it* and we both go for it from 80 on. I pull slowly on him untill 80 when I start pulling twice as hard, we reached somewhere over 120 before we got close to other cars, I had a length on him, making me very happy. After we cleared the traffic, he stayed at least 20 cars back nomater what speed I went :D Side adventure, it rained bad, a taho with swampers spun the tired on a turn and obviously wasnt satified with it, ,so he kept going, ,spun out, smacked a curb, it was great watching it :hehe: hybridsol 12-16-2002, 05:46 AM Nice kill TV. keep it up until you find the asshole who plauged my night before thanksgiving....... DemonZX 12-16-2002, 09:33 AM My friend Justin just got a 97' M3 with 28,000 mi. for $22,000! He lives out in Ponte' Vedra, ya' know where they play the TPC Sawgrass...Golf if you didn't know. Super high class + a bunch of old people. They had it , and did not want it any more so he took it off their hands. Well, stole it! I can't wait to race him!:alien2: <---I had to use that smily bacause no one ever does. Cbass 12-16-2002, 09:33 AM An M3 Z3? Was it a 3 series or the roadster? Those M3s are muscle in their own right, very torquey :) Nice killage. -The Stig- 12-16-2002, 03:19 PM I was going to bring that up... No such thing as a M3 Z3 hehe.. Its either or. for some reason I just cant see a BMW losing to a highway match... but whatever.:bloated: Cbass 12-16-2002, 04:22 PM There is the M roadster, which is the Z3 roadster with M3 drivetrain, and other various upgrades... I can see a 5.0 liter Thunderbird cooking a 2.0 Z3 on the highway, no problems :D An M3 or M roadster OTOH, is a very different story. TerminalVelocity 12-16-2002, 06:41 PM Originally posted by Cbass There is the M roadster, which is the Z3 roadster with M3 drivetrain, and other various upgrades... there ya go didnt have z3 badges, just recognised it, I dont know bmw well :p But it did have the m badging...show me pics and I will tell you yes or no to that it was if you doubt me :bloated: and redneck, you dont think my car camn beat anything, so to you :flipa: 94svt5.0 12-16-2002, 06:50 PM Redneck is just jealous. You know he secretly slobbers for a nice T-bird. Good job on wasting the M3. -The Stig- 12-16-2002, 08:55 PM ... Me jealous of his Thunderbird? Hardly... maybe if it was when he first got it... like when it had interior. But now... nope. And why is it I dont think your car can beat such vehicles... cause Thunderbirds are not race cars. Thus i'm skeptical. Your story makes little sense... let me point this part out. So I gun it and let off, he pulls alongside, downshifts *car jerks and you can hear it* and we both go for it from 80 on. I pull slowly on him untill 80 when I start pulling twice as hard, we reached somewhere over 120 before we got close to other cars, I had a length on him You state... you started the race at 80mph. Then you slowly pull on him till 80mph then you pull twice as hard till 120mph. 80mph to 80mph... To me seems like... a very very short race. Or he wasnt trying. Please explain to me that... then I'll most likely shut up.:) Oh and technically you raced a Domestic not an Import... Z3's are built in South Carolina. RACER D12 12-17-2002, 08:38 AM TV did it have a long nose with seats towards the back if it did thats a Z3 if it didnt than it was a M3. I find it hard to beleave that you beat him but what ever s!#t happens, and you were probably more experienced than him so... ok maybe im not going to be one of those S2k people DemonZX 12-17-2002, 08:44 AM Yeah, I say we just let this one go. But, then again who am I to say! -The Stig- 12-17-2002, 01:28 PM Well lets figure it out hehe :sun: It look like this M3? http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/pictures/154519.jpg This car is debateable, 333hp with 3400lbs. Compared to your 240hp and 3600-3700lbs. I feel he should win. A 99 M3 could run a low 14 with only 240hp, a 01-02 M3 with 333hp would be a high 13 second car. It look like this Z3? http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/pictures/154813.jpg I can see this loosing. Although it does run a high 14. Or was it a M Coupe? http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/pictures/85304.jpg I cant see this loosing, 315hp 3100lbs. Unfortunately I think it would kick the Bird in the teeth then laugh at it... not to mention many other cars. I mean its a high 13 second car... c'mon! And yes, I know quarter mile times mean nothing in a highway race but it does give a good idea of the cars potential. DemonZX 12-17-2002, 04:28 PM guy I used to work with had a M roadster. He let me drive it a couple of times. But, the owner of the company I worked for bought a Z8! Yeah! Let me take it for a spin with him of course! If anbody doesn't know what a Z8 is: Cbass 12-17-2002, 04:40 PM Lucky bastard! ;) I dunno, the older M roadster had 240hp, and at highway speeds, TV's bird wouldn't really be at a disadvantage. He's got the 3.08 gears, so that helps him as well. A new M3, OTOH, with it's 333hp engine... :D TerminalVelocity 12-17-2002, 07:10 PM beaten the first one twice so far on the freeways, the second it was, but with m badging?....show me m badges *yes, I know he could have just canged the badges who knows* TerminalVelocity 12-17-2002, 07:14 PM I pulled on him from the start, from 80.1 to 80.56 :hehe: I type most replys at 4am so theres usually mistakes :flipa: I pulled till 100, then pulled twice as hard TerminalVelocity 12-17-2002, 09:45 PM me and redneck figured out its the 2001 M coupe convertable *through extensive picture searching* -The Stig- 12-17-2002, 09:55 PM see.. im not as much of an asshole as some think... I just try to sort out the stories so they make sense... 80 to 80 PHEW tough race lets go get a beer! :D RACER D12 12-18-2002, 08:20 AM This car is debateable, 333hp with 3400lbs. I beleave its 2800lbs Cbass 12-18-2002, 08:48 AM BMW says 3086 lbs, 240hp@6000, 236ftlbs@3800. I think the Bird was in it's element, the highway. Fair game. RACER D12 12-18-2002, 02:45 PM BMW says 3086 lbs, 240hp@6000, 236ftlbs@3800. no i mean the M3 coupe its 2800lbs Deakins 12-18-2002, 03:30 PM This probably doesn't matter, but the Non-American M Roadster/Coupe has 321hp. Cbass 12-18-2002, 06:41 PM Last time I checked the M3 Coupe weighed around 3250 lbs... As for the NA and ROW engines, the NA only really matters, as it's unlikely someone would bring in the eurospec engine and upgrade their M roadster :D RACER D12 12-19-2002, 07:02 PM can someone tell me how to put up pictures whats the url? i keep on trying but im getting no pics http://p2_home kris 12-19-2002, 07:50 PM RACER D12 12-20-2002, 08:33 AM thanks Cbass 12-20-2002, 12:18 PM I want an M5. :D Only 311hp stock, but it's a 5 series sedan, nice and comfy, but with M suspension and brakes too... Indecisive 12-21-2002, 01:42 AM Originally posted by Cbass I want an M5. :D Only 311hp stock, but it's a 5 series sedan, nice and comfy, but with M suspension and brakes too... you're too picky lol give me a E30 M3 Evolution III and I'm happy. Cbass 12-21-2002, 01:44 AM An E34 M5 is pickier than an E30 M3? I think the M3 is the much sportier and much more desired car... I just want the M5 for cruising to Vancouver and back! ;) Indecisive 12-21-2002, 01:52 AM lol E30 M3 goes for around $20k and is sumthing like 193HP heh..NOT picky so :p man..I found out that my bimmer is from ont or something and the guy drove it all the way here from ontario or wherever so like all my parts are worn down from that long ass drive here...damn guy......and I have HUB CAPS!!! bastard..lol all I have to say to you is you have good taste in cars....EURO OWNS RICE!! ehhe hybridsol 12-21-2002, 02:08 AM I will give bmw props for the double VANOS system. But at the moment I'm still pissed at that asshole with the m3 who put me in 5 feet of horse poop. Cbass 12-21-2002, 01:57 PM Yeah, you've got right to hate M3s :hehehe: I'm talking about the E34 M5, goes for about the same money as the E30 M3... http://www.amazingcars.freewebsites.com/car/bmw/94e34m2.jpg http://www.ultimategarage.com/bmwe34m5.jpg http://www.bmw-zone.de/1.jpg Automotive fricken perfection! Then there's my personal favourite pick for automotive perfection... http://www.autoindex.org/news.plt?no=185 Layla's Keeper 12-21-2002, 09:46 PM Give me CSL or give me death! Although a 2002 or 507 would be greatly appreciated. Maybe an M1, or euro-spec M coupe (they remind me of Layla). Cbass, I shall give you props for wanting a big sports sedan. I love those things! Aston Martin Lagondas, the new Maserati Quattroporte, Jaguar XJ-R's, TT Toyota Chasers, 1st gen Inifiniti Q45's, 5 series Bimmers, AMG Mercedes-Benzs, Audi RS8's, '94-'96 Impala SS's, the list could go on and on. It's especially wild that drifters love the Chaser. ULTURA SEDAN DORIFTU! -The Stig- 12-22-2002, 12:27 AM ooo Impala SS... great car... but it just doesnt stop there.. Caprices are nice too.. basically the same car. But if you get a ex-Police Cruiser you get the pursuit suspension, heavy duty cooling system with trans cooler and the beefier motor. Make for great cars! Indecisive 12-22-2002, 02:48 AM haha sweet..I've never seen an older M5 before..ish dope heh and I take it back.....Cbass you not picky...Otagon is..lols Cbass 12-22-2002, 12:50 PM Heheh, I expand my Porsche/RX7 nazism to include BMWs :hehehe: Indecisive 12-22-2002, 09:32 PM ahhaha my "nazism" as you put it is still only with BMW..and Maybe Mini...if we get one...*hopes we get one* heh. Cbass 12-23-2002, 01:04 AM Well, you can't be a car Nazi unless you love Porsches, the good doctor was a member of the German National Socialist Party! That, and Hitler had an active part in designing the Beetle, dictating that it must be air cooled, and rear engined for more leg room, for us tall germanic types ;) Layla's Keeper 12-23-2002, 11:54 PM Dah. The Beetle's original name was, after all, the KdF-Wagen. "Kraft der Fursche"(?), or Strength through Joy (the slogen of the Nazi youth). This is just history, folks. I'm not trying to say I support the eradication of ANY race of people. *pshew* Ever since Lott you've gotta watch your ass. If I ever get around to building my ORR racer than sure... Bring it.:) fatninja19 12-25-2002, 08:08 PM ORR racer? -The Stig- 12-25-2002, 08:59 PM Open Road Racing basically Silver State Challenge cars... Cars which are specifically built to go at high speeds for prolonged periods of time. fatninja19 12-25-2002, 09:19 PM So what would you do the the engine as opposed to just a regular street/strip/drag race type of engine? -The Stig- 12-25-2002, 09:25 PM depends on what sorta power plant you're running... i'd like to build a 377ci with forged internals... they can run in the 6000-7000rpm range effectively. And with forged internals they can be fairly reliable. Of course I hope to have the gearing low enough to where the motor isnt being stressed for prolonged periods. DemonZX 12-26-2002, 08:00 AM *lacing up his shoes and puting on his eye black* I will zone up the dirty south! Uhhhhhhh! <--------"Master P" vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
