Ok I had Icm/emc checked out good!! The power to the unit{pink wire} came out 11.7 volts,Is there a way to check ck sensor without oscillascope? And can the cam sensor "stop spark" if bad?? Thanks for help!!

Cam sensor times injectors, a scan will look at cranking rpms, none would indicate a bad crank sensor or wiring the icm or the icm.

Ok,Thanks. The codes I have are P122 Tp sensor ciruit... P136electronic/sparktiming signal not switching after enable...P0705Trans range sensor malfunction...I do not want to buy a PCM if I don't need it,I will if needed of course,Is there a "back yard" way to test the ck sensor, or anything else that is stopping my car's spark-ling:rolleyes: personality,or lack there of...Are any of these codes helpfull in diagnosing my sad plight?

There are specific diagnostic techniques to be used here, Check for power at the pink wire on the ign module, check the resistance of the crank sensor, 900-1200 ohms, many things can cause this, the cps is the usual suspect for no spark or injector pulse. None of those codes will cause a no spark condition, 785 can point to a ign module , maybe.

Now is the cps the cam sensor, or like I believe you are saying the crank position sensor? I will check out the resitance,What is the best way, do I need to pull it.I have the next few days off. Thanks Plodder

Crank sensor, I'd try and get a resistance check at maybe the connector itself, if you take it out, (the balancer must come off), then just replace it.

Ok,I am trying to get at it today,I am hoping to have sight of the connector, hoping not to take the balancer off, I thought I had it the cranksensor connector, but it was the cam sensor(three pronged).I have seen on this site how take off the bolt to the cam sheild, but I cannot find my chain gripper, will it it hurt anything to wedge with a block. How important is it to have the"right" torque on that bolt when I put it back together? Sorry note so long,Plodder

The balancer bolt if so it is pretty tight,( 135 I believe) I doubt you could over tighten it without an impact, if the cps bolt the usual "tightness" for that size bolt.

Well I took off the splash shield and the passenger side tire. That gave me the access I need to get to the CK sensor.I went to test it,but could not be sure what pins I was connecting, then I realised that I had no diagrams in the book I have to tell me which tangs to touch. Also it is very tight in there,so I will need a mirror(boy, have seen the set at Costco/pacific nw?).I may also need to attach an angle pin of some sort for the angle is bad. Thanks plodder
P.S.Have you ever tried the trick with the breaker bar on the crank bolt, then hitting the starter??

No , I feel this is a dangerous technique , I have seen a standard sockets come apart doing this! Autozone.com, repair guides has the checking procedure for the sensor, enter the car and go to engine controls for the info.

I tried to get to it using some small electric connectors, bent at an anle, attached to my ohm meter, but I could not touch what I wanted, nor could I hold it to see the readings.Ineptly plodding through...

New problem, Same thread!!!!The "CAR STARTED"!!!!!@#$$%&*!!{I had the boy give a small crank to see what direction the crankshaft pully turned/WTH-the sweet horrifiying sound of the running engine}I did nothing, except spend the money on a ck senor I can't take back!!!{I never took it out of the box} So now what?!?!?!?!?!I go back to work tommarrow, this is my wife's car,so she will drive it,then get stranded with our 94 year old adopted Grandma. So what do I do??...Can a CK sensor,or pcm, flick between,OK, and not OK? is it a loose wire??

There is no way from a remote location to diagnose this, any one of those things can cause a no start, CPS, most common, wire to CPS and ICM, Icm itself and on and on it goes, if no spark usually the cps, just replace it, why not?

Well yeah,I know its hard to remote diagnose,I still am interested in "every" reason there could be a no spark, not only the standard. My life is almost entirely made of exceptions, with little exceptions,so that's why I ask. The reason I did't just change it is,Now it runs...Was it ever thr problem??Could it have been, and now works fine? The other main reason,I could not get that stinking bolt off.LOL. Thanks!!

Well, now it will not start again, I will change the ck sensor,i will rent tools if I need to:disappoin I thank you for your concern and help:popcorn:

Ok, I finally replaced ck sensor,I was not able to loosen the bolt, so I resorted to using the starter method, and it worked, and I broke no tools, fortunately:naughty:!!The car seems to be running fine so far. Thanks Plodder
