I have a 99 Prism that will only blow hot air when set of the highest setting. I was told to check the fuses, but I do not even know where to begin and do not want to bring the car into the shop since it is so close to the holiday season. Any suggestions? Thanks.

you have done well by visiting this website! I just bougt a 99 Chevy Prizm with the same problem. I fixed it last night! What you have is a burnt fan circuit resistor. It is located behind the glove box. Got a new one from the dealer for $39 tax and all. Look for another entry in this forum concerning fan speed problems and you will find the other entry I referenced to do my repair. The other guy has pictures, part numbers and everything! What a resource! It was a little tricky getting the glove box door off (10 mm socket & phillips screwdriver) but the resistor was too easy to find & replace. Bingo! the fan has all of it's speeds now. Putting the glove box door back on took maybe one minute! You may have to pop off a small trim piece by the kick panel to access the right side 10 mm bolt, I had to. That was the hardest part for me. I love this forum! (PS .. the new resistor is improved over the original so it should last a lot longer) Hope this gives you courage and hope! (hah) You'll do fine! DangerDude

Dear purduegirl look at thread number 113 in this forum menu.. you 'll find everything you need to know to fix your blower fan. The writer of that entry didn't have to remove the glove box door to change his resistor. I'm not the contortionist I used to be, however it will simplify the task if you can work upside down for a minute or two! Good luck and keep warm!!!
