Blinking climate control temperature

The climate control system temperature light on my 97 LSS has started blinking when the engine is started. It stops after about 60 seconds. The air conditioning seems to be working fine. Any ideas what is causing this strange behavior?

I have the same thing happening on my 93 LSS, however my air conditioning is not putting out cold air, and a recharge did not help. So, I was guessing that the blinking was to indicate a problem in the air conditioning block (in my case).

It seems to be working but the weather is cooler so it's hard to tell. I'll check futher.

Any ideas what is causing this strange behavior? The “blinking light” is a method used to alert you that there is a fault in the system. It could one of many things wrong. When did this problem start? Has the battery been changed, or disconnected recently? Unfortunally, the 97 would require an AC functional scanner to see what the fault is. :disappoin

I have a '94 Olds 88 that is doing this and I just had to charge the battery because one of the kids left the dome light on all weekend. What does changing or charging the battery do? Thanks.

It takes a Tech II or similar scan tool to read the codes- but the last few I've encountered- I could guess what was wrong--

Is your OAT (Outside AAmbient Temperature) sensor working- does the display read properly- if not- look for broken wire at sensor in front of radiator- about 2 foot from sensor--or check plug- may need a new sensor as well,

Other times the a/c has been disabled due to low refrigerant- due to a leak- you need to know for sure if the a/c is working- is compressor turning?

Other things that could set a HVAC code are temp sensors, sunlight sensors, and mode door problems--

My OAT seems to be working fine. I am actually using heat right now and seemed fine other than the blinking until this morning when it wouldn't pump heat every once in awhile. I just found it odd as this started after the battery died and I had to recharge it. I am wondering if there is any corelation and just something I need to reset or calibrate. Thanks.
