95 monte (z34) dumping fuel and jerking after warming upLeighanna 12-19-2007, 11:25 AM We have changed mass air flow sensor, fuel pump as well as filters and all, coil pack, egr valve, plugs and front wires (the guy doing the job said he needed his helper to do the back three and just never did it) as well as just recently the Catalytic converter. I was told it was the exhaust, took it to Midas who said it is a fuel issue...I dont know. The car was running smooth other then a sputter sound out the exhaust and burning fuel like crazy, now the car is giving a jerking feeling once warmed up and giving it gas. Kinda like it did before changing all the other stuff. I love this site because you all were great help before, this is my only car and I cant bear to part with it! Any ideas of where I should start looking under the hood? I am not a mechanic but have been able to fix a few things on my own....I only hope that is not part of the problem! :screwy: I did do the MAF on my own after a mechanic put holes in the other one with a screw driver! Any help will be greatly appreciated! ChevroletTough 12-20-2007, 02:04 PM it sounds like your getting the dreaded z34 problem. I ran into it. I tried everything i knew. So the guy didnt replace the back 3 spark plugs? they are easy, you just need the exact right extension to get down there. Its a really big pain to get them out though. I did it. If you can't get it, go to autozone they should borrow you a tool to pull the engine forward giving you more room to pull the plugs out. Also if you do it, make sure you electrical tape the socket to the extension, becasue they like to get stuck down in there.... not fun to get out!! I did an entire spark plug/wire set job to my Z34 this summer. Took me 4 hours with the help of another guy. To run the 3 back wires the way they come from the factory, you have to remove the entire intake of the car (not super hard) and have somone use a coathanger to feed the wires along the left side of the engine down to you so you can plug them into the coil packs. ITS ALOT OF WORK!!! Keep in mind i only had the car up on ramps. You changed all filters? including the fuel filter? Have you checked the fuel pressure on your system? maybe the fuel pressure regulator went bad. I never did figure out the problem with my first 95 monte carlo. it sounds like you are running into that problem, its sitting in my garage because i don't know what esle to do. I hope you don't have the same problem. does that help at all? You might have a bad plug or wire... The stock wires on my monte lasted 180k miles (way over due) I had one of them burn through becasue they were so old. If you run the wires, make sure to put them in the looms and put the shrouding on them that is supplied, keep the wires away from anything that gets hot(hence why the looms are there) I believe there are 3 sets of looms for the rear set and 2 for the front set of wires. Leighanna 12-31-2007, 05:19 PM Thanks for the advice on the back plugs, I will attempt them this weekend. I also want to get the car back on the computer, have not done that since the coil pack went out some year back. I would love to park this car but right now it is my only one. It runs, gets me to where I need to go, but ten miles burns about a quarter tank...not good at all...so I dont go much farther then work and home! I was warned about this car before buying it but it was too pretty to pass on! Ugh! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
