To buy high mileage car, or not to buy......?jacobkmc 12-18-2007, 12:08 PM My friend's girlfriend is selling her 91 Honda Accord for $1000. It's a good deal but the thing's got 213,000 miles on it. I only need it for going back and forth from school and work, but I'm worried it'll break anytime on me. Should I go for it or not??? Any advice appreciated '97ventureowner 12-18-2007, 12:51 PM Welcome to AF ! The cars made today are more reliable and can generally go further than their predecessors due to better technology. Do you have any idea of prior maintenance and upkeep of that vehicle? Cars that have properly maintained also tend to last longer and get higher mileage from the engine. I'd take the vehicle to a trusted mechanic for a thorough "lookover".A good mechanic , especially one with experience with Hondas, knows what to look for and can give you an idea of it's overall condition, and whether or not it is a good buy. new2mitsu 12-18-2007, 05:11 PM yeah, it all depends on how the vehicle is maintained. i have an 88 chevy blazer with 276k on the clock, and due to maitinence, it still runs like a top, with little financial burden at all. also, my buddy has a 90's civic w/ 303,000 on the clock, and the car just broke down for the first time since he's had it(almost 4 years) last week drdisque 12-18-2007, 10:27 PM automatic or 5-speed. What does the body and interior look like? sickcallawayc12 12-21-2007, 12:17 AM Tranny would be my main concern, regardless of what it is. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
