How do you reset the trac-off light? There has been no work done to the car, but I do think someone has been messing with the vehicle. Also this might sound stupid, but how long would it take for the oil dip stick to rust?

My car has been running fine, all of the sudden it sounds like a 4 wheeler. It is kind of making a putting noise when you mash the gas. It is a really cold morning and i am wondering if that could be the cause. The exaust smells like gas. Any ideas?

First off it is impossible to have a 2006 Grand am,
they ended production in 05'.

Your dip stick, it could have been rusty from the begining, but it sounds like you drive short trips which can cause moisture build up internaly.
On the noise its hard to say from what you are describing but it could just be from the cold. ANd when its cold the engine does run in a rich mode untill the exhaust reaches 600+ degrees.
