Is your vehicle a '97 EX, or is his? What 1.6L VTEC (no H) engine is it, and what year is the engine? Try to give as much information as possible in your threads.

But as long as they are both Civics (at least '88-'00), it will work. But depending on the year of the engine and the year of the car it's going into, there might be some wiring differences that owuld need to be addressed.

unless your converting manifold and such you dont need to do any kind of rewiring and such unless you want it to look as stock as possible.

Depending primarily on what car he has right now, it will not be a problem to swap that engine.. it's actually pretty common swap.. actually, tho, if he really wanted to make more power, and didn't mind plumbing another oil line, he'd do best to take another block and just stick your (y8) head on it... that would give him better compression than stock, and allow the Vtec to "hit harder".. as it were.

IF he's got something w/ DPFI on it now, he'll need to use your (MPFI) manifold... he can use any D-series parts, ftmp... there are certain things (obviously) he won't want to use.. like certain intake manifolds, etc. It all depends on what power he wants to make, and where he wants to make it... (what RPM range) what exactly will he be using the car for? Daily driver/dual purpose? full out racer? all these things need to be considered when doing a swap, especially if a rebuild is part of it, or anything custom is being done in order to actually achieve the swap.

It's a relatively easy swap from '88-'00 cars tho, and he can most likely use his own transmission if he wants to, instead of buying a new one.

DPFI was last seen on Honda's in the 4th gen, correct... he's posting here about a Vtec engine, leaving the fact that his friends car could still be a 4th Gen... then again, if the title is about his friend's car, that would kinda say that it's not a DPFI car... and should ALREADY HAVE Vtec... so I'm guessing it's not a 97.

well it sounds like his car is a d16z6 since he saying my 1.6 v-tec motor and his car is a 97 meaning he iether has a y8 but its blown or hes got some crap bass model.

well, if it's really an EX, it's Vtec... and it's a Y8.. and he'd be better off rebuilding that engine than using another one, not to mention that '97 is OBD-2 and Z6 is OBD-1 iirc, which means he's going to have to match the OBD of the car, adding sensors to the engine.

What I'm thinking about this thread right now is that some newb decided to get more posts by posting some BS thread, about how his "friend" HAS THE WIRING AND TRANSMISSION, but doesn't know if said swap can be done.

It's attention, and we're giving it to him. Let's stop.
