After finishing my ’50 Vaillant project (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=759497) I started work on another comic-based car this time a 1971 Vaillant 3-litres prototype. This car never appeared in a comic album, it could be only found battling Porsche 908/3s in a lesser know short story. As mentioned before, a friend of mine made a few 1/24 resin kits consisting of body, roll bar, engine cover and decals initially purposed for slotracing.I have added a wheel set from one of TOJs Renaults together with rubber tires from the sparepartsbox and a left over curbside chassis also from TOJ.

Body is already filled and primered and now waiting for final paint.

Wow, what a great looking car - shame it never existed for real.

Vaillant is just about unknown over here in the UK, though I did see them shooting the movie at the 2002(?) Le Mans. Are you going to do the Lola Judd that they used for the film too? If I recall, it failed to finish.

You touch a damn nerve with your models.

They look lovely, although my preference goes to the Rush and all versions of Commando (http://marquebd.free.fr/Dossiers/MichelVaillant/rallye.html)

I wish I knew where to get, or were so skilled with CAD to construct them myself.

This is going to be a nice build. Looks like a lot of room to improve on it though. What I mean by that is room to change the brakes and things like that. You leaving it the way it is?

By the way, what in the you know what is your model sitting on? Looks like layers of a flat wax candle?

Did you mean Nurburgring?

For some reason your photos don't show up for me. :(

Something happened Ray since I seen before, not now. Great start: looks like those Toj Alpine rims are good.

I'ld like to know more too: I seen at automobilminiaturen but I can't locate a Toj site: they have some cool subjects speaking of prototypes.

Sorry for the delay, but I ruined 2 paint jobs. Although carefully washing the body before primering, a few fish-eyes showed-up. So, I sanded the body again and the fish-eyes disappeared after the second coat of primer. French Blue came out also very good, BUT than I took the wrong clearcoat can and primer, blue color and clearcoat peeled off. After cleaning the body in paint remover, primer looked good but a few smaller fish-eyes appeared again. Happily on a section of the body where decals should be applied.
