I have keyless entry, but no keyless remote for my 96 Tahoe - need adviceAdventurer_96 12-13-2007, 12:22 AM I just bought a 96 Tahoe and the previous owner had no keyless entries for it. I called the dealer with the VIN and he told me it did come with keyless. Before I get a cheap one off of that auction site, can I check my Tahoe's keyless unit out? Also, how hard are these to re-program to the vehicle? Thanks... Adventurer_96 12-21-2007, 12:23 AM Hmmm, I suspect this was a jacka$$ newby way to get into the forum since keyless questions abound. Still, where does the hardware for the truck's part of the keyless receiver live? 16th hippy 01-08-2008, 05:56 AM not 100% for sure, but i think it is integrated with the passenger door module. only way to "check it out" would probably be to hook up a tech2 or other capable scanner and fiddle with it. as for programming, is either with said scanner, or might be able to without. key off, hold down unlock button on DOOR, turn key to ON(not starting truck), after a couple seconds(while still holding button on DOOR) the locks should "cycle", let off button on DOOR, and pres BOTH lock and unlock buttons on remote to be programmed. locks should cycle, and repeat for next remote. when done, turn key to OFF, and test remote(s). best of luck. If dealer confirms VIN with keyless, then should be ok unless there is a fault with system. do you have a friend/neighbor with a simialr vehicle you could "borrow" a remote for a couple mintues to test with? another quick test might be to try the first step of programming, hold door button, turn key on and see if locks cycle. that would say that most likely the keyless system is working, but not a full gaurantee. post back results if you could! Adventurer_96 01-25-2008, 02:07 AM Got them to work w/shorting 4&8 pins, all functions work. Thanks... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
