2003 Monte Carlo SS heated seatlorenjr 12-12-2007, 11:47 AM I have a 2003 Monte Carlo with 54,000 miles on it. The drivers side heated seat does not work. the lights work and the passengers side works fine. Is this a common problem? Where should i start looking for the problem? edson4433 12-12-2007, 02:30 PM Yes, this is a common problem. I have had the driver's side heated seat replaced twice in my 02' Monte SS, and it has once again stopped working. The dealership tells me that the heating elements wear out with frequent use. Your warranty will cover the seat if you want to get it fixed. They told me that it would go out again and it did. I wonder if it could be the Heat Control Module under the seat that links the switch to the heating element. If it was that, you can replace that part for $65.00 and the hassle of trying to get the thing unhooked. The dealership just replaces the entire seat instead of messing with troubleshooting. I have thought about switching out the HCM from the pasenger seat to see if that fixes the problem. I miss my heated seat this time of year... lorenjr 12-13-2007, 01:32 PM Well maybe i will have to take it in then. i only have 6000 miles left on the warrenty. i also had another problem arise yesterday while driving down the highway the abs and tranction control light came on. mclisa81 12-19-2007, 07:55 PM Hi edson, I was told today, to fix the seat heater on my 2003 Monte it would cost $600 plus $350 labor. I bought the extended warranty through Chevy when I bought the car. How were you able to get it covered under the warranty? edson4433 12-19-2007, 09:47 PM It was covered by the factory warranty, there were no questions asked. Are you past the standard warranty on the vehicle and into the extended coverage? Do you have another Chevrolet dealer near by that you could go see? It would not be a bad idea to look at the details of your extended warranty. Maybe the heated seats are something that is only covered in the intial factory warranty. There may be more going on there. Maybe they did not want to deal with a warranty claim. Dealerships have also been called "stealerships" in the past because they can make double the money on a warranty claim. They tell you that something is not covered when it is and you pay for the parts and service. They then turn around and submit a warranty claim to Chevrolet and are reimbursed for the parts and labor. They doubled their money. Keep pressing them if you really want your seat fixed. I have to tell you though, Chevrolet told me that the seat would go out again and it did. I checked my service paperwork and it was listed as a warranty claim. It showed that they only replaced the bottom of the seat pad where the wire was broken. youngnwiaguy 12-31-2007, 11:18 AM I have an issue with my heated driver seat in my 2002 Monte Carlo SS. It isn't that it isn't working, I have this one spot on the bottom left side of the back of the seat where it gets extremly hot. Hot to the point that it'll burn you. It left a mark on the seat where it looks like it kinda shrunk the leather from getting too hot. I'm wondering if the heat coil or whatever moved out of place and is too close to the leather. I'm afraid of taking the cover off as I'm not sure I'll get it back right. Anyone have any suggestions? mclisa81 05-29-2008, 07:03 PM I found out that the Chevy dealership sold me an aftermarket warranty. And I read through it and they defininately are not covered. Someone suggested a remote car starter for $200. I might do that because I really miss the heated seat after having it for 4 years. Of course this is the same dealership that told me my car heaters were working fine when I brought it in because they weren't. I brought it to another dealership and they found a leak in one of the lines and fixed that, amazing, my heat worked again. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
