Clutch problem

I started my 2004 F-150 (5-speed) 4.2L today and the clutch is acting up. If you press to the floor, the clutch just barely disengages. In order to go you must start it in gear. will not shift with clutch depressed. Just wondering if it is the master cyclinder or slave cyclinder?

Add some brake fluid to the CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER, There is a rubber cup under the cap, remove this before adding fluid. Your slave cylinder is probably leaking.

I believe you are correct. I have to add fluid about once a day and the clutch will lose pressure sometimes while engaged. I found a new slave cylinder for less than 50 bucks. hope it is easy to change. Thanks for the info.

Easy to change, NOPE. I believe Ford still uses the internal slave cylinder which is all one part with the throwout bearing. You have to remove the transmission to change these. But I would diagnose it carefully, there is a chance the line between the slave cylinder and master cylinder is leaking. Good luck.
