My eclipse gsx......I tried starting it in -27degrees celcius and it didnt start becasue of battery...and when it started it had a pretty rough idle.....then a few days later i started it up and let it warm up and then revved it to get a BOV vid for a buddy and then after i revved i the idle would drop to almost dead.....and then come back up.....help?

You said you started your car in -27 C. That really f*ckin cold, your car will idle like shit until its warmed up. When its cold your ECU dumps tons of fuel in to keep it running, at that temp you were running super rich which is why you have the rough idle.

We need more info on the second problem, does it do it all the time or just after you rev? Are you venting your BOV?

yes, the BOV is vented. But i thought that was alright with the 2g's? I know i had a 1g and wwhen it was vented into the atmosphere it made the motor confused but i thought the 2gs were different.

Nope. You are releasing measured air. You are running rich and bogging the motor. Recirculate your bov and the problem should be fixed.

Well, On most of the 2g's I never see the aftermarket BOV's being recriculated? Alright so what do i do IF i want it to be vented into the atmosphere.......and I have a air/fuel guage....and its reaing stoich?

They are all ricers or either have a gm maft setup. It doesn't matter what your a/f gauge says. You GOING to run rich at idle and when shifting.

That A/F gauge gives you a very, very broad idea of where your car running, but it mostly it serves for a nice little lightshow for the passengers more than anything. You need to recirculate that shit too.

Yea this is quite common. People see someone with a vented blow off valve but don't realize they have a MAF setup.

Think of it this way our MAS is right beside our air filter. Thats where the air gets measured and the ECU decides how much fuel from there. If you spray out air at any point behind that your ecu won't know and therefore still adds the same fuel with less air. This causes you to run extremely rich for that few moments when your BOV vents the air. Thats why it almost dies after venting but seems to be working normal when its not because the air is being still held in the system.

If you metered your air with MAF say at the throttle body or UICP past the BOV then it doesn't matter because whatever air is vented isn't accounted for.
RECIRCULATE YOUR BOV. If you want it to sound loud get a MAF setup or a hard intake pipe that helps too.

well, so what is the best thing to do.........buy a MAF translator.......or eprom the ecu and dsm link it? Or what.....why would HKS make a system liek that where it plugs off the intake arm-hole. :banghead:

Just buy:

Then get a hose and run it to the intake.

wala.

:1: I know this is not the first thread of yours I've had to move, and frankly I'm getting sick of moving 3-7 threads a day from careless and lazy users.

What do you mean what should you do? Reread the thread and just about all questions you could have on this topic are covered. If you have some attachment to your mAd TyTe BOV whistle and dont want to recirculate, you have two options: cough up for the MAF translator or deal with shitty idle. Also, DSMlink doesnt have the ability to recirculate without consequences. Regardless, $300 for a MAF-T setup is a lot of money just to run around and sound like a ricer popping off a loud ass BOV IMO. :2cents:

so......let me get this straight...because you can hear the BOV......your a ricer....hmmmmmm....Well i aint no ricer:screwy: ........and I love hearing the BOV.....sooo what does that make me????

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying.

Listen dude, I'm not trying to start something with you here. You got what you needed from this thread, so act accordingly and lets let this thread die.

Just cause you run a vented BOV doesn't make you a ricer. But when you care more about how your bov sounds than how your car runs.. Well you get the point.

Couldn't have said it any better.
And THor is right too.
Infact everyone is right in this thread but you just won't listen. you have got everything you need to make an informed decision.
