My car is a bit of a banger, although it's been my trusty companion for 2 years now, and it's all I've got...the head cracked a couple weeks ago, and it's neccesary for me to drive it anyways...and I have been...to and from work...which is only 5 minutes away...but with steam constantly filling up and freezing my windows over and having to refill it with water every couple of miles is ridiculous...It's not worth replacing the head and I don't have the money for that anyways...so I bought this stuff that is supposed to "weld" it and all that good stuff, but I have to remove the thermostat first...can anyone tell me where it's at, and how to remove it?

It's a 2.4... 3.1s don't crack heads

This should help

If it is the 3.1, the thermostat is on the intake under the throttle body. Remove the upper radiator hose on the engine side. LOOSEN, but don't remove the lower/right bolt (the housing is slit so the housing will slide off with the bolt in. It is VERY difficult to get the bolt back in of you do remove it). Remove the top/left bolt and slide the housing out of the way. Remove the thermostat.

Well the 1993 grand am's only came with the 2.3 4 cyl or 3.3L 90deg V6(like the 3.8).

SO on the 4 cyl it's below on the lower coolant pipe.
And the V6 is in the typical local off the top radiator hose,
but easier to change then the 3.1/3.4's.

If its as bad off as you say cruelkitti, you might as well not even put one back in at this point.
