I have a 91 S-10 that is leaking coolant. It seems to be coming out the exhaust. It has dual exhaust and is coming out doth sides. It does not get hot even when low on coolant. There are no bubbles coming out of radiater with cap off and engine running. If it is a head gasket why would it be coming out both exhaust? Could it be the intake manifold and any way to check and see? I think this sight and all involved are awesome and appreciate any replies.

What you see coming out of the exhaust... is it steam or liquid?

It is liquid. If it sits and idles a while there will be a small puddle on each side. Thanks for the reply old master ,you have helped me before and I appreciate it.

Does it have "true duals", (no crossover pipe) and how many catalytic converters are on it? A byproduct of a catalytic converter is water, that might be what you're seeing. No bubbles in the radiator is a good indication that the head gaskets are ok. Have you done a pressure test on the cooling system? If not, probably a good idea. Leaking intake gaskets are very common on the 4.3L, but it's very rare for them to cause liquid coolant to leak from the exhaust.

My '95 does the same thing, especially until the engine reaches operating temp. If you're loosing coolant it's probably from another source, as coolant into the exhaust will cause a white smoke.

As OM said, a pressure test on the cooling system should tell the tale.

Sorry it took so long to reply but I had to find someone with a pressure tester. He looked at it and the liquid coming out exhaust does not smell like anti-freeze. He didn't want to run pressure on it because if it was leaking somewhere it would make it worse. He told me to put a lesser pressure cap on radiator so I did and it hasn't lost coolant for 3 days. Will it hurt to go from 16lbs. to 9lbs. of pressure? Thanks again far your replies.

Replacing the radiator cap with a low pressure cap is not going to solve a coolant leak other than it lets the pressure off the system. This may slow an existing leak because the pressure is lower on the system. It may get you by for now, but it will more than likely get worse later on.
Just checking.... but you do know that water is a natural byproduct of the combustion process and it is perfectly normal for water to drip out of you tail pipes while the engine is running? (Just making sure that this isn't the case)
