Hello wondering if I can buy a shorter belt to bypass the air conditioner pump. The pump is extremely lud when it not engaged. I mean LOUD! I was told I need to by a bypass pulley. Hope not! If I have to by a pulley is there any way I can just quiet this pump down?

Thanks.
Nick

Check the belt routing diagram under the hood (if it has one). If it shows an additional pulley for the non-A/C routing, you will need an additional pulley. On the 3.1L, I am almost entirely certain all you need is the non-A/C belt. On the 2.2L I KNOW all you need is the non-A/C belt. 2.4L, I have no clue.

for the 2.4 ga there is no way to bypass the a/c you need the new pulley

Either way its pointless to bypass IMO no real measurable gains.

Yeah replacing the bad AC pump or pulley would quieten it down. :D

Here is a solution for the 3.1's for bypassing your AC (http://www.autozone.com/N,15201187/shopping/partTypeResultSet.htm).

That link is for the 2.4, it shows one for the 3.1

There is no gain from it, but there is minimal loss. Some people don't have any money at all, and others (like me) only have money because they don't spend any

That link is only for the 2.4 because you have that entered as your car most likly, its for the 3.1 as FullyAvenged was asking. Never seen one for a 2.4 Quad.

The only gains would be not spending the $390 for a new compressor.
