How hard to change shock absorbers?

2000 blazer, 2 WD, 4 door.

Looked up some info on how to change the shocks out, mine are pretty shot (97k miles). I notice they are inside the springs.

Sounds easy, but I went out to get a good look at the upper and lower attachement areas. Kinda daunting. I'm a low-mid level do-it-yourself'er.

How bad is this gonna be? I remember the guide to change the fuel filter "was easy" and that was ugly. And the stupid sparkplugs, which the back right side ones are insane to get to (had to use a wobble socket set, thank God my father had some handy).

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks,
Brian

Front shocks are a breeze! 10 minutes per side, max. Raise front end and support by frame, (let the wheels hang). Use a deep socket and a long handled ratchet on the upper bolt. Rock the ratchet handle up and down about 4 times and the shock stud will snap right off. Remove the lower bolts and the shock falls out! The rear shock upper bolts are "neatly tucked away" but they are accessible.
