I have a 1993 lumina Z34....Yesterday I put the car in drive and the doors locked they should have but when I went to get out the door would not unlock, the lock slider slides about 3/4 to the unlock position but no further. Using the key does nothing as well.Does anyone have any ideas on getting the door unlocked?:banghead:

sounds like toe solenoid on the actuator failed and seized...always seems to happen when the doors lock. you are gonna have to push on the lock leverand try the door, keep going until it opens. do not try this with the key as it WILL break off in the cylinder or at least bend alot. the lock lever on the door panel may break, but this is so much easier to fix than a broken key in a lock cylinder. once door is open, remove panel(make sure window is up all the way), and remove actuator/latch assembly. if you have the new solenoid(or actuator if you have to buy the whole thing) then swap it out. otherwise remove solenoid and re-install latch assembly and live without power locks on that door until you get a new solenoid or such.

Sometimes the rod that goes from the slider to the lock gets stretched, at a certain length it is no longer able to operate properly.

Only way to tell is to take the interior panel off and have a look. You should see what I'm talking about by sliding the lock if this is the problem.

this is if the solenoid seems to be still working...
