Hello i need all the help i can get. Just got a 1999 Dodge Stratus about a month ago. It seemed to be missing every once and a while but never alot. But today was really bad. Started being a little slugish going up a hill and jerking even does this at idle now. It will idle fine then drop rpms and shake a little then go back to normal. Another thing was when i was driving it to check engine light flashed a couple of times but went away. I haven't done anything to it yet just wanting some feedback on it first. Did buy some sparkplugs today though but haven't put them in yet. Please please help me solve this problem it's driving me crazy!!! :banghead:

Ohm the plug wires when you install the plugs. If this doesn't fix the problem Advance or Auto Zone will pull the codes for free. Post the trouble codes for use to use.

Well i put the spark plugs into today and that did nothing. Wires look brand new. It almost like it's not getting enough gas the engine just burbs alot. Drove from my dad's to home and it did it all the way home. Press the gas pedal and it burbs don't press it and it does ok. This is really confussing me.:screwy: Could it be a catalyic converter (misspelled) or possible a fuel filter??

Normally you can loosen the flange bolts in front of the converter get about 1/2 in space. If this fixes the problem get a new converter.
A plugged fuel filter will cause problems. If you pull it and can't blow through it
replace it. This should be replaced about every 30,000 miles.

After a little internet research is the fuel filter actually under the gas tank or am i reading that wrong?

They are usually in front of the tank or along the frame on the inside. Take a flashlight and look after it is on jack stands. Follow the fuel line and you can't miss it.

Well was going to start the car today to see what happened and the battery was dead. Could this have anything to do with the way it's been running????

The computer system requires proper voltage to work properly.

Look in the owners manual.

hay man are you still having problems if so my strat was doing the same thing starting to shimmer and everything so I just started using 90 octane gas and shit at about 3k RPMs I dont have that problem no more but you can use reguler gas to. Same efect. And yes your fual pump is in the gas tank

yeah my strat was doing the same thing I just started shifting at 3k RPMs it stoped doing all that my light hasnt even came back on. As far as your fual pump that could be part of it. What you will have to do is put a jack under your gas tank and unbolt the tank then let the tank down. your best bet is to drive tell your allmost out of gas or you will have to find a way to drane it but your pump will be eazy to get to then. then all you do is put the tank back on and fill her up and your good hope I was some help to you.
