I have a 3.4L V6 1999 model Alero. It constantly makes a ticking noise. Everyone says it sounds like valve chatter, but I've had new lifters installed and the noise is still there. The noise started a couple of years ago after I had my heads resurfaced. Someone suggested finding longer pushrods to fix the noise (is there such a thing, if so where would I find them). Please Help!!! It sounds like I drive a diesel, but given that it isn't a diesel, it really isn't too cool!

Valve chatter isnt caused by the lifters.

When you had the head work done did they do anything else to the heads ?

To my knowlege the heads were just resurfaced, I've had no problems with coolant levels since.
