Can a 5th wheel hitch be installed on a Ford F-150 Supercrew with a 5.5 foot bed?

Yes, but not a real good idea for a couple of reasons. The first being a half-ton. I wouldn't pull a trailer with a dry weight of more than 5000lbs. The second problem is the distance between the front of the camper and back of the cab. All campers are diffrent and should be looked at carefully to make sure that you buy the right camper for the truck. There are two options for you to consider, the first being a pivoting hitch that allows you to get out of the truck and slide a lever and the hitch will move side to side and front to back to get into and out of tight spots. That option is a lot more expensive and can't be used while driving down the road and doesn't help if you drive through a dip. ie Pulling in and out of driveways causes the front of the camper and the back of the cab to move closer to each other. The other is an adapter that can be purchased on ebay that moves the front of the camper back a little farther, but I don't recomend that because it also transfers the weight of the camper farther back on the truck. You can put a hitch on a short bed truck (I have one) but becareful and take your time moving the camper.
