Reprogramming '00 Blazer Keyless problem

Hi all. Having trouble with the programming mode when trying to program a new keyless entry (and old one) remote.
I follow the instructions pretty carefully, yet it won't go into the correct mode.

All doors closed, key in ignition, hold unlock on driver door, on, off, on, off, release unlock.
Nothing.

I even tried the resynch remote option, where you hold the remote for 7-10 seconds (both unlock and lock), but get nothing there either.

Its supposed to lock and unlock to let me know it took for both option, but nothing is happening. I tried various ways, speeds and checked windows and doors to make sure they're closed.

My only other thought is that maybe this isn't a standard keyless entry system, but looking at the paperwork on the blazer shows that it is factory installed.

Is there anything else I should try or suck it up and try a stealership... er, dealership? :)

As I mentioned in other threads, it can take quite a bit of time for it to kick into the programming mode? My '98 took at least 30-45 seconds before the 'unlock' part happened signifying that it was in programming mode. Check online, there's more than a few reprogramming sites with instructions. Make sure you've got the right set for your year, I would swear '99-up you had to short out a set of slots on the interface under the dash? Not 100% certain on that but if you find a few matching sets of info to what you have - your method for that year should be correct.

Again, it's patience. '98 I had to hold - on/off (make sure you're turning it only to the ON position as the instructions state, too far forward into RUN or START and you've blown the sequence) as stated and then continued to hold the button down for like 30+ seconds - then magically I got the big clunk. From there, you need to work reasonably fast to hold down both buttons on each fob you're doing a sync for! Run through them, confirm them, then do the next.

Patience is the biggie, drove me nuts for a half an hour till I gave it one last shot longer than I had before and viola' - worked.

Exactly. Some Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada models are tricky, and may just need the buttons on the remote to be held down longer.
