2003 Ford Expedition Front Brake Rotorss46rlc 11-19-2007, 04:38 PM . I have a 2003 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer) 5.4 L engine,2WD,auto trans, The problem I am having is trying to remove the front brake rotors to have them resurfaced. I am used to the spindle with two cone shaped roller bearings held on by a nut with a cotter pin, that the brake rotor is mounted onto(with a dust cap at the end of the spindle). This system looks to me as if it is mounted onto a center hub of some sorts with a non-tapered roller bearing in the perimeter of the rotor hub area. From the rear it looks to have a grease seal to prevent the grease from leaking out.I am at a loss on how to remove this, and does this come out as one piece or are there two pieces, hub separate from the rotor disk. Does this has to be done by an auto shop that has a special tool to remove the hub and rotor? Any input would be greatly appreicated Thanks s46rlc:banghead: C. Cleve 11-19-2007, 06:00 PM Hi, This is from a retired FORD tech, The rotors are frozen on/rusted on or what have you on...dissemilar metals being the problem, UNLESS you are a WELL equipped, and very knowledgeable tech, I suggest the most reputable Ford dealer you can find.
