Need help people. I own a 98 ford contour SE 2.0L. I know the DLC connector is supposed to be located by the driver side strut housing, but it isnt. I have a check engine light and I want to use the engine light check method to determine the fault code. In order to do that I need to put a short on the DLC connector that is suppossed to be in the engine compartment. . Any ideas??

i have no idea what this 'DLC' connect you speak of is.

if you want to get the CEL code the connector is under the dash. driver side/

The DLC connector is the "Diagnostic link connector" I want to use this because I dont have a scan tool, and I dont want to pay a shop 100.00 to read the code. That is why I want to use this primative method. It is a connecter that has a protective cap on it called "eec test". If you find it near your driverside strut housing pleaselet me know where?

I found a copy of the chilton manual for my car and it shows a picture of it right where it is supposed to be???? I find that very strange.
