Hello all, I have an 01 with 105k that just started flipping a P0743 code with the TIL lite flashing which apparently indicates the torque converter clutch solenoid. Still runs great. My ford tech seems to believe replacing the solenoid might solve the issue but I'm curious if this will turn into a torque converter replacement. Anyone run into this? Thank you

Have yout tech do the test for the solenoid. Very easily done. Just basically an ohm reading. Should be between 17 and 22 ohms. he 743 is for an open circuit somewhere. Usually is the solenoid. Good luck and good to see ya again.

I will do that. He intends to drop the pan next week. Good to hear from you too. Kevin

You do not need to replace the valve you are lucky it took that long to happen. Most fords with that trainmission on make it to around 55000, here is what you need to do flush your transmission and replace your trans fluid with a Conditioner that should fix the problem.

it was the the torque converter clutch solenoid. Cost around $200 and once you drop the pan it was a pretty easy fix.
