Hesitation on HillsAleroCommuter 11-13-2007, 12:35 PM I have 2000 Alero with a V6, 3.4. When I am cruising up an incline at a constant speed my Alero hesitates or stutters like it may be misfiring. The check engine light does not come on either. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? It seems to be happening more frequently as time goes on. Eric GTP Dad 11-13-2007, 04:33 PM Welcome to AF!! Does the problem go away when the brake is pushed or you shift to another gear? If so then the problem is probably in the transmission. The torque convertor clutch solenoid isn't properly working and causing it to lock and unlock improperly. If it doesn't meet this criteria it could be an intermittant misfire that the computer isn't setting a light for. Check the wires and plugs and if they haven't been changed recently have it done. AleroCommuter 11-13-2007, 04:49 PM I was planning on changing the spark plugs and wires but thought I would ask on the board to see if it could be something else. I dont believe it meets the tranmission trouble criteria but I wont rule it out. Any recommendations for Spark plugs and wires for my everyday commuter? GTP Dad 11-14-2007, 08:18 AM Go with platinium plugs but stay away from Bosch. AC irridiums are also good but expensive. The platinum plug will last a long time and give you good mileage. Most GM cars run best with AC wires but Taylor makes a good wire too. Most of the wires that meet OEM specs are acceptable. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
