99 SL1 Base PanMork 11-13-2007, 05:05 AM I have to replace the oil Pan on my wifes 99 SL1. Has anyone here done this and how much trouble should I expect? I noticed a transmission to engine bracket that will have to be removed but can I get the old pan off without dropping the exhaust? Any tips appreciated. Cat Fuzz 11-13-2007, 10:53 PM You do have to drop the exhaust. Mork 11-20-2007, 04:55 AM Ok Got the job finished. For the record and maybe some help for someone else, here is what I had to do. a) Drain the oil. b) Drop the exhaust. Rather than let the pipe go from the exhaust maifold I let the manifold go from the cylinder head. This gave me enoght clearence to get the pan off. c) Remove the engine/transmission brace d) Remove the flywheel inspection pan e) Remove front engine stabilizer bracket under crank pulley. f) Remove crank pully This will give you full access to the oil pan. Just install and re-assemble. bmoore2031 05-09-2008, 12:31 PM Do you have to replace the crank pulley seal after removing the crank pulley? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
