I recently purchased a 2000 S-10. It is a ls model with all the Xtreme add-ons. Lowered, 16 inch rims with 235/55/16 tires. At 70 mph the abs light comes on and stays on with the brake light blinking every 10 to 20 seconds. Once the truck is turned off and restarted the abs light stays on until about 3-5 mph then it goes off and stays off until you get to 70 again. -----The speedometer needle bounces at this speed also-didn`t know if this meant anything or not! Thanks for any ideas :banghead:

You should be able to go to Autozone and get the codes read for free. Write the code down and post it back here. The code will start with the letter C, followed by 4 numbers.

The speedometer and the ABS use the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission (two wheel drive) or transfer case (four wheel drive).
The reason the light comes on when you first start it is because there's a code in the system. At 3mph it does a self test. If all looks good at that time, the light goes out until the fault happens again.

If the abs and speedometer use the same sensor could my problem be with this sensor. My speedometer does bounce around at 70 to 75 mph. Thanks for any replies. Oh yeah! local autozone doesn`t have abs code scanner.:shakehead

I second the speed sensor, the ABS system does use the speed sensor for proper operation. Also you mention the speedo is bouncing around.
