Considering 97 Passat 6cyl - Need Feedback Toyrolla 11-07-2007, 10:09 AM
Hello All.... This car has 44,000 miles and is Carfax certified. The car will be a commuter car; I drive long distance to/from my office. How's the reliability factor with everyday driving? Are there any known areas that I should be aware of in regards to maintenance upkeep? Also it's stated in the ad that the car is a 6cyl. Is it safe to assume that this would likely be a VR6 engine? Honestly, I haven't owned a VW since I parted with my '73 Super Beetle back in the day. But I need a good reliable car that can handle the commute. My '89 Camry V6 still performs well in daily driving to/from work, but it's starting to show its age and will eventually need some TLC. The car I will get will allow me to take this one off the road for much needed work. Thanks!!! Problem areas are electronic and suspension, you'll need VAG-COM to read fault codes when problem arises--this will keep you informed on any electrical problems. Suspension is anothor story. I like my Passat even though the parts are expensive, I don't hink it is very relialbe car and rather expensive to maintain. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
