Need more analysis than that - any sounds? Were the windows ever working? What does the prior owner say?

I doubt its going to be a relay or fuse. More than likely its a motor or something is up with the switch. See if you can move the windows from the switches on the doors the are with. If you hear some weird sounds (grinding) then its more than likely a motor.

Have had issues with my windows on my malibu over the years, always had lick by blowing out the switches with compressed air. (dust in switches???)

a couple times when my windows would act werid I would just pop up the driver side controls and check the plugs. Just unplug them then plug them back in. Always worked for me, give it a try.

I just bought a set of factory manuals for my 2000 because I have window problems too.
my drivers door master switch works all windows up and down but the individual door switches won't operate the windows. I tried another switch and it would allow the two rear door windows to raise with the door switch but the drivers door wouldn't go up but it worked the others up and down :banghead: I will take one of the switches and try the air thing and maybe see if I can get deeper into the switch for cleaning. I think the wiring has to go through the master switch to operate the window. By that I mean I think the door switch is parallel wired so the circuit is made through the master switch.

I also have to replace the fan resistor and clean the contacts on the climate control. other normal things that are usually failing with the Malibu not enough to upset you but time consuming.

mine had the same problem. I could hear it click like it wanted to move but it would do nothing. I thought it was the motor but since it was doing it with 2 different windows I went ahead and purchased another control switch on ebay to replace it and now all the windows work good.
