Well, my Tranny has been acting up lately, a lot. I got 3 codes, Shift Solenoid Electrical, Pressure Control Solenoid Electrical, and Incorrect Gear Ratio, it's in the tranny specialist right now, and basically he said the Shiftplus works is it send a surge of positve and negative energy through the 2 wires you splice into to make it work, and therefore will throw things that are electronically controlled, out of place over time, just like this, so now for that thing that cost me $40, and thought it would help your shifting, is now going to cost me over 500 to fix.........these Shiftplus are made for Chevrolet Trucks for towing and is what they should be used for, shouldn't be throwing them on our 4 cylinders to shift the car hard as a rock when needed, if you want a shiftkit, have the Tranny rebuilt with one in it if you are Automatic which you have to be to have a Shiftplus on your car. Just a warning to all who have it, my advice, take it off before it happens to you, you get no warning, one day your tranny will just start acting up really bad and then your screwed. And that price to fix it is from a private Tranny Specialist, not normal shop rate, so a normal shop would charge more. Hope this happens to no one else, because it is brutal.

well of course it did that cuz it is only ment to be on when you are racing, not to be on all the time. and thats probly why you blow your engines left and right. you dont follow directions.

No I only used it at the track, or in a street race then turned it off, never left it on during driving.

hmm...
something must of gone wrong with yours. Ive had mine longer then yours (remember the thread from January http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=657738&page=2) and its constintly been on stage 1. I have not had a problem since and its almost been a year.

strange...

Correct me if I am wrong. The B&M increases the line pressure for the tranny correct. So if you kept that on "Stage 1" wouldn't that extend the life of your tranny? I know the newer trannies don't last as long because everyone wants a smooth shift. Smooth shift = slip = going out sooner.

I had mine for a pretty damn long time and nothing happened, i just took it out and tuned my transmission with HPTuner and now it shifts even harder the how it was with jut the shiftplus..

Yes, increases line pressure, and those 2 wires you splice are to your Force Motor pos and neg. the specialist told me, these GM trannys are bulletproof, should never have to have a problem with an automatic one. If you do its because you tampered with it, and it should be free of anything( the wires), so splicing the B&M on, is an interference, and is drawing power that the tranny should be getting. That is what I was told. leave the Tranny the way it comes, or get it rebuilt with a real shiftkit, these things will cost you a lot before you know it, too late for me.....damn Im gonna have a big hole in my pocket after this one......Im rippin that damn thing out and getting rid of it.

Gm trannies bullet proof??? Maybe a powerglide or a turbo400 maybe even the 700r4 but the 4 speeds in cavalier are not bullet proof. Also there is a gear selector control thing (sorry forgot the name) on the top of the tranny. Right where the cabel bolts to. Try replacing that first. Takes about 10 mins and about $15 at a junk yard

Ive had my shift+ on for 3 years now and have yet to have any issues with it or my tranny and I keep it on stage 1 24/7.

BTW...You do know the car needs to be turned off to select down from stage 2 to a lower setting right?

Stage 2 can hurt the tranny if you drive with that on too long..

yes I know you gotta turn the car off to switch down a stage. My tranny was rebuilt a year ago, and is already pooched, stage 1 shifted hard, and stage 2 a little harder not much, like is stage 1 supposed to give the car a "kick" when it shifts? But I have the picture and shit here Ill scan sometime soon and post how the B&M goes onto our trannys and works...but the Tranny guy said it's a mistake putting it on, because they were meant for Chevy Trucks, for more towing power. Not a 4 banger Cavi lol. Anyways I gave up, my mechanic is getting me a used tranny and putting it in for only $400, so I am taking that path, rather then screwing with this. I jsut want it to drive, and rip out the B&M and thats that.

Scan off the pics, im curious.

And what company does this "tranny guy" work for?
whats his name?
where is he getting this used tranny?
has he dealed with Shiftplus before?
if so, on what kind of cars/trucks?

just throwing out a couple questions.

Lol the pics are off Mitchell On Demand, and were actually in my backseat, until yesterday when the windows were down and I was flying at about 100 KPH down the road and they flew out lol. Basically it shows the pins of the plug for the tranny, the ones you splice into, and the two it goes into are the Force Motor + and -. which is sending additional current to your tranny to utilize the shiftplus, which shouldnt be done, the tranny should never been electronically tampered with, this guy who did all this, worked at a local Tranny shop here, and at GM for a while. My used tranny is coming from the wreckers, few hundred bucks...it should be in and done tomorrow....then im leaning towards either, bodywork and paintjob or the supercharger kit......dont know whats invloved with the supercharger...............i gotta look into it...

supercharger should be sweet. if ordered from GM, it comes w/ everything needed.
