Fuel InjectorsKeg914 11-03-2007, 12:52 PM My 95 Nissan Pathfinder needs to have all of its fuel injectors replaced. The dealership quoted this job at about $2000. Is this bassically the only price to do this work, or are there other alternatives? Thanks. Toolman5523 11-03-2007, 09:02 PM Out of that $2000, do you know how much is parts? Keg914 11-03-2007, 09:34 PM Out of that $2000, do you know how much is parts? They said it would be about $200 for each fuel injector. So I guess about $1200 total for the parts. Toolman5523 11-03-2007, 09:51 PM plus o-rings, insulators, plenum gasket, and any other related shop charge (coolant) they would add. sounds about right. labor to do that job would not be all that much, fairly easy job Keg914 11-04-2007, 01:26 PM plus o-rings, insulators, plenum gasket, and any other related shop charge (coolant) they would add. sounds about right. labor to do that job would not be all that much, fairly easy job Cool. Sounds good. FixUrNissan 11-04-2007, 10:20 PM just curious, you never said why the dealer said you need injectors? Keg914 11-05-2007, 01:20 PM just curious, you never said why the dealer said you need injectors? Well, my gas mileage is horrible, my engine has been hesitant sometimes (even though I have tuned it up, cleaned out the air intake manifold, replaced the fuel filter, and a whole lot of other things, lol) and my check engein light has been coming on a lot. The code is 51, which leads to the fuel injectors. I do have a question though, do all of the injectors have to be replaced, or maybe just one or two can be replaced? Because, the truck really runs just fine, except for a little hesitation now and then. FixUrNissan 11-05-2007, 10:20 PM There is no such code as 51. There is 1 through 42. So what us this code 51? And Yes it is recommended to replace all injectors while you are in there. Did you try running injector cleaner through the injectors? and clean the throttle body? 88pathoffroad 11-08-2007, 07:53 PM There is no such code as 51. There is 1 through 42. Bullshit...it goes from 11 to 108, actually. 51 is "Injector Circuit". They skip numbers, so the list isn't 108 codes total, it's actually 51 codes total. I'd ohm each injector out and see if they all come close to matching. Often it's just one injector that's got a problem and not all 6. The dealership just wants to sell injectors and make you pay for the labor time to replace them. Here's an idea, unplug injectors one at a time while it's running. If you come to one that doesn't make the engine idle change when you unplug it, that one may be your problem. If you find no injector problems, I'd start looking at the wiring for them instead. flyguy123 11-14-2007, 04:46 PM $2000 to replace fuel injectors is highway robbery! Is it just stock injectors? For stock injectors I would say $100 a piece is fair. Fuel injectors do go bad but it is rare. My advice is to find another mechanic. You could have a bad injector but I highly doubt that they all need replaced. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
