can't decide?primetime1 12-01-2002, 10:44 PM I"m looking for some friendly advice form anyone willing to help me out. I want to buy a new car and can't decide between a used Jetta 1.8 T(most likely 2001 with low km), or a new 2003 Sentra SER Spec-V. Another car I'm considering is the 2003 Mazda Speed. Reliability and workmanship are huge factors in my decision. Gas mileage is also important because I have a 45km highyway commute to work. I know Hondas and Toyotas are great for this but I want a car that has some kickass power and performance and also has four doors. Can anyone help? DM hinggu 12-02-2002, 12:34 AM well, i test drove the 1.8T and admit it is a very nice car, but find that it is usually too pricey for what it is. It all depends on what type of vehicle you are looking for. If you want a car with tons of torque, then I would suggest the spec. But be careful with the spec. I find that the gas mileage is not that great. But you should test drive both to see what car you want to get. I tested both the 1.8 and the spec and ended up with the spec. The new Mazda protege looks kick ass too. The car is supposed to handle like a dream!!! Makitso 01-05-2003, 11:13 PM Hey, I shopped and shopped, kept coming back to the SE-R. If it helps the fuel economy question, I bought the SE-R straight up. (That's right, not the Spec-V.) Sometimes I wish I had the 6th gear, but the fuel economy is a little better. Stick with the reliable, torque-a-licious SE-R. muphasta 01-06-2003, 09:21 AM Don't forget the limited slip differential on the SpecV. There are other things that make the specV worth the expense. As for gas milage, I just got 29 mpg using Chevron gas. I usually get about 25mpg, but I was really surprised to get 29. Sanchi 01-08-2003, 02:11 AM humm this is an old post dont think the post'er is still around, but the '03 Se-R spec V and the Se-R both are 6speed now, so thats a plus. besides the 1.8t is about the same in terms of fuel economy as the Spec, not sure about the pro????! ONe things for sure the Pro is a total rip off... might look nice and be a good performer but dealers are asking for low to mid 20's!!! thats BS. but ohh well i dont think its worth the money but still a nice car. Id stick with the spec... power and handling!!! no flaws at all!!! best bang for the buck!!! :D :D :sun: :flash: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
