96 Lumina 3.4 Coolant Leak

I've found very little searching the web reagarding how to fix this. The leak is either the rear of the intake gasket or the rear head gasket. One thread I found said 3.4's need special tools but didn't say what. I'm not a mech but have plenty tools (including a Snap-On MT2500) and have swapped motors, trans and replaced cam's and Opti's and such.

What if any special tools are needed for Intake gasket replacement?

What if any special tools are needed for head gasket replacement?

What other parts, gaskets bolts should I aso pick-up?

I can deal with MY doing a lot of labor because the car has only 52k on it, never been hit and otherwise great shape, but can't afford:2cents: a mech to do this.

TIA:popcorn:

Intake gasket replacement doesn't involve any special tools inherent to this motor. Things like a torque wrench and such are necessary, but I don't consider those a special tool. Changing the head gaskets is a whole different story. Since it's a DOHC cam engine, the timing belt is a massive headache, and requires a special tool to align the cams so the belt can be reinstalled correctly.

Richtazz,

Thanks for the reply. What it the name of the cam ailignment tool? Is it a special purcahse Kent Moore type tool or can it be bought locally?

Thanks
