Best to get a Chiltons or Haynes Manual it tells what needs to be done.
basically its disconnect the negative cable off the battery
pry off the key bezel and then pry off the trim piece that goes around the key wwitch, radio and climate control, then it may be necessary to remove the glove box if it won't come out far enough to remove the elect connection.

The dash bezel is held in by clips. Open the ashtray and grab underneath of it. Pull gently so you don't break one of the clips. It should snap out fairly simple. Then the radio is held in by 2 screws...one on each side. Pull the radio out and simply disconnect the harness and antenna on the back. You will need a GM antenna adapter. GM made their antennas smaller than the normal antenna.
Let me know if you need anymore help. I've been in the stereo industry for quite a few years. You do not need to disconnect your battery.

Sweet thanks. Do you know where the best location is to mout a sub in this car and also what size of amp should i get for a 1300W Peak Power (380W RMS) sub with a 4-Ohm Voice Coil?

Right now I have a single 10 inch JL Audio in my trunk with only 350 watts going into it. It sounds great. Its loud but I don't want everyone hearing me coming. I also have a 98 Malibu by the way. You really want to find an amp that will run the RMS of your speaker. Having a sub that says it runs 1300 watts peak means thats what it can handle on a single burst of noise....not constant noise.
Then you have to figure out the type of enclosure you want. I prefer ported over sealed boxes. Sealed boxes are great. They usually take up less room but usually needs more power to get them to sound as loud as a ported box. If you need any dimensions for a box or any designs let me know.
As for location of the box.....its really up to you. Having a box face the rear of your car is wonderful. It uses your trunk as a second box making it seem louder than what it really is. Thats how mine is set up. Driver side right behind the back seat. You just need to let your ears figure out whats best for you.
Hopefully I have helped you out some. Let me know what you decide.

Ok first you take off the cover where you put the key on (carfully) then remove the front panel off the radio it will come off and the only thing holding it are clips and the cig.lighter is connect then after that put the key on Acc then put the parking brake on then put the car in first so that you have space to remove the radio remove both screws and the connections on the back and you have remove you radio

The only thing I like from either of those companies is their head units. But if you're asking which one I would choose out of the two I would say the Sony sub. I have a friend that has two in his 97 Malibu and they do slam. He only has 400 watts going into them. Try going through Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com (http://www.crutchfield.com)). I bought a Rockford Fosgate Series 2 from them for $50 through their scratch and dent for my brother. There was nothing wrong with it. It just didn't come with the brochure. You won't get a dented or scratched speaker through them. They just don't come with the spec sheets....but they are brand new. The sub sounds sweet too.

Well I'm in the US. When I looked at mine it was to the right of the page. Also there is a link at the bottom of the page. And when you are looking at all products it usually has a link to go to see if it is in the scratch and dent.
