I have a code 43 and the knock sensor connector is reading 1.29 volts which is why it set the code. But i cant find the ESC and dont know what they mean by if the circuit its open or grounded or not. Thank you very much

On that year and engine.
Some do and some do not have the ESC module control system.
You may need a good factory repair manual and then go threw the repair flow chart for that code depending on if yours has it or not the test and repair flow charts are different.
Or a all data sub would be a big help if you do not have a factory manual.

Could be the knock sensor or the ESC.

ESC is supposed to be located at the center of the firewall next to a test connector for vin W 4.3L.

Tanks for reply MT you seem to know alot about engines and what not from other posts ive read. I only have a Haynes manuel which is pretty crappy i think theres no diagram of my particular 4.3 vin W engine of course. I know it may be the knock sensor but i cant get it out, it wont budge ive tried liquid wrench heating it up everything, afraid im going to break it off in the block. Would the knock sensor being bad make the engine run like its missing and really loud exhaust?? crappy idle to , 43 is only code im gettin. thanks

From the acual knock sensor connecter the wire im only gettin 1.30 volts ive heard its suppose to be somewhere around 5 volts volts is that corect? i have this book titled "Chevy TPI Fuel injection Swappers Guide" and for the code 43 it says this "If CKT 496 becomes open or shorted to ground, the voltage will wither go above 3.5 volts or below 1.5 volts. If either of these conditions are met for about 1/2 second. a code 43 will be stored." So my question is what dose it mean that 496 could be open or shorted?? and how to i tell which one it is and how to go about finding it?? Thanks for all your help

Knock sensor only pick up a knock.
And retard the timing.
If the engine is missing you have another problem.
But I have had ESC modules do some strange thing.

Your engine should have two knock sensors.
One lower on left of engine and other on rear of right head.
And it may or not have ESC.
They come both ways.

Unplug one and then both of the sensors and see what the line voltage goes to and post back.
