I was driving my pickup down the highway loaded with sand, in top gear and as I came to a slight hill I noticed that my engine suddenly increased in speed and I slowed up and went home with out any more problems. Then the next day I was going back down the highway again, with nothing in the bed, but this time I went up a steep hill. In the middle of the hill I passed a truck. As I was passing the truck my engine again incresed in speed. (like the tires are spinning but it is a hot summer day) and this time I don't slow up, I keep accelerating and make it by the truck, but my pickup is going slower and slower while my engine is still running very fast. So I made it to the top of the hill and pull over to the side of the road, and there is a terrible stinky smoke comming out of my truck. Anyone have any idea what is wrong with my truck?

Oh and I had a friend pick me up from there, was there a way how I could like limp it home or to a shop to get it repaired??

Thanks!!

I think your clutch is going out I assume you have a standard transmission. Probably around $150.00 if you do it yourself.
