1992 Cherokee LaredoPatKGreen 10-23-2007, 01:05 AM 1992 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 L, 5spd, 4WD When turning, I try to release the clutch and step on the gas, sometimes it will not react immediately, and then all the sudden kick into gear like I was popping the clutch. I know it's not my driving, it's a recent occurence. Also (I've heard a lot of Jeeps do this) my brakes will lock once in a while, and it's always one of the front ones. I think it's the calipers, but they seem fine when inspected, pads and spring kits are new, I bled them recently and the pedal was rock hard. I'm lost! Someone at Advance Auto told me that the boot from the line might be bad? Any help? When you're in college it's always better to try and fix it yourself cause being strapped for cash and unable to really have a job blows. fredjacksonsan 10-23-2007, 06:52 PM How about a little more description on the clutch problem? Are you letting the clutch all the way out? Does it ever happen while driving straight, or only when turning? Turning either direction or only one way? On the locking brakes, I'd suspect the calipers. As a starting point you may want to replace them. Does it do it both sides, or only on one? PatKGreen 10-23-2007, 11:17 PM Sometimes it's both sides. That's the odd part. The clutch is on it's way out, about 3/4 or so when it does it. It's only when turning, that's why I'm so confused. Now that I think about it, it might be only when I turn right. fredjacksonsan 10-24-2007, 02:35 PM That is a bit odd...only thing I can think of is that there is some flex between the trans and engine when turning, and the clutch, being worn, moves far enough to disengage? If it's mostly gone already, I'd consider replacing it, then see if the problem recurs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
