transfer case filler plug tool

Can anyone tell me what tool I need to remove the filler plug in my transfer case?

The filler and drain plugs both look like they take a large allen wrench. What size and is it hard to remove? Do I need a special sealant to put them back?

It is a "New Process Gear 233-C". I just changed my tranny and spilled some fluid out of transfer case in the process. I was just going to top it off, but suppose I should replace it? I assume its regular tranny fluid? How much should it hold? I was going to use a squeeze bottle to "shoot it in" until it began to overflow from filler. Does all this sound right? Any suggestions appreciated. -Thanks

plugs are pipe threads you could coat with teflon tape squeeze bottle works or could use suction gun or hand transfer pump

Thanks Pipelinerr....

I got teflon tape, so I'll use that. Now, I just need to figure out what tool to buy at Sears.

Also the fluid that spilled out was red and looked like ATF. Can anyone confirm that is what I use?

For anyone that is interested:

The tool required to open the filler and drain plugs on the transfer case is a 10mm allen wrench. I got mine from the used tool store for $1.49.

Although, I drained out 2 quarts of ATF, I was only able to refill with about a quart and a half before it overflowed out of the filler. After driving I was able to put a tiny bit more in, but not as much as I drained out.

Jimmys can leak ATF from the tranny into the transfer case via the shaft seal. So if you're wondering why you're tranny fluid is low but have no drips on the floor, it's going into the transfer case.
