Cordovan tires on a Malibu?

May not be the right place to ask this - but couldn't find a better place. My daughter has an 04 Malibu LT with 55000 miles on it, and it has the new steering system. When we bought the car it had the dreaded klunking problem, and the dealer replaced the entire steering system/shaft for free. However the previous owner must have driven it bad for quite a while as the front tires are chewed up on the inside. Tires look brand new on the outside but get under the car and look - bad news. I rotated them to the back but now need to replace them before winter. The other two tires are still like new so I just wanted to replace the two bad tires. It has Cordovan Tour Plus L52 tires on it now - and my tire dealer told me he could get me two to match the others. Anyone know anything about these tires? Never heard of them and can't find any information about them.

Interesting, I had never heard of Cordovan. Did some web surfing. Apparently they are made by Kelly and Cooper. From what I read they seem to be at least a decent tire and have good tread durability. I didn't read anything negative. If the 2 you have look new and you seem to get good traction in various conditions, I'd probably go with 2 new ones as long as they were priced competitively. Aside from the wear due to
front end issues, it doesn't sound like you had any issues specific to the tire. Having said that I have mostly BF Goodrich on my cars as I find them to be overall a very good value. Thanks for the info - makes me feel a little better about just getting two new tires - I was leaning towards just getting 4 new tires of a different brand, but it's the daughter's money and her boyfriend is telling her nothing is wrong with the tires on the car - course he didn't get under the car and look:banghead:

We'll see how we get along this winter - she just bought the car in the spring so we haven't driven on these tires in the winter. My husband says the tires are good and it was just the steering problem that ruined the front tires - so he's more concerned that the steering problem will come back without her noticing or fixing it right away.
