92 Regal no start, no power, no headlights, possible bad ECM?

I have a 92 Regal. Yesterday it would not start at all. I turned the key to run and there was no radio, no clock, no gauges. The headlights didn't even have power. I jumped it off another car for 2 minutes and it started right up like there was no problem. The charging system is working just fine and I did not leave any interior lights on, nor was the glovebox light on. This was my moms car prior to me and a Buick Dealership replaced the ECM saying this was the culprit. My aunt has the same car and she had the same problems and a dealership preformed the same fix. What I dont understand is how the car was completely dead, even the headlights, yet it took only 2 minutes for the battery to be charged to crank it over. The car cranked over with no problem, and this was after removing the jumper cables. Anybody have this same problem and what was the fix?

Ecm cannot cause a dead battery have the battery load tested and the car checked for any electrical drains when shut down. Clean and tighen all the positive cables and grounds also.

Has anybody replaced the ECM because it was diagnosed as bad and causing a battery drain? I could imagine that the ECM could cuase the fuel pum to stay on.

The ECM does control the alternator via the voltage regulator, so it is possible the ECM could cause a dead battery over time, but this isn't your issue. A dead battery (one run down over time from the alternator not charging) would not charge enough in 2-3 minutes off jumper cables to crank the car on it's own. I would unbolt the underhood relay center and check the underside for corrosion and rust, as this is a fairly common issue on older W-bodies, especially those that are in the snow belt.
